Regression therapy is not the same as past life regression. Sometimes, the root of a problem lies in an earlier experience we have had, often although not necessarily, in childhood when we had limited resources with which to either understand or deal with something.
The trouble arises when we continue to carry the emotion associated with that experience and it continues to operate at an unconscious level and inform our behaviour. Sometimes we have forgotten the actual experience or we remember the experience but are not aware of having been upset at the time.
Regression therapy can help us find the event that is still inhibiting us in some way. It enables us to remember the incident more fully and often to remember how we felt at the time. Because we are working with something held at an unconscious level, we can view that event more objectively, use our current, adult, more informed resources to resolve that old event or gain greater understanding.
Very often, this in itself will resolve a long-standing problem.
