Choose a therapist you think you will be comfortable with. It is a good idea to ring round a few first and get a feel for the kind of person they are. If you go to someone you feel you are not going to get on with particularly, it will probably get in the way of your treatment.
Give yourself time. Clinical Hypnosis can deal with problems relatively quickly, sometimes amazingly so, but most conditions require more than one session. If you know you have something coming up which is going to bring up your fears, like a presentation for example, start making enquiries now and deciding who you want to work with, and discuss with them when you should start treatment. Some people give themselves so little time that they become even more anxious, which only gets in the way of treatment.
This may sound obvious, but decide you really want to deal with your problem and that you are prepared to do what it takes to do so. This means that if you are asked to do something between sessions such as self-hypnosis, that you commit to doing it. If you think you don’t have time to do it (and we’re talking about 2 sessions of approximately 15 minutes each per day), then ask yourself how important it is to you to get the results you want.
